We art directed and produced a “Soul Train” inspired editorial story for Flaunt Magazine’s ‘Double standards issue’ with the very talented Photographer Phil Hewitt and Stylist Ellie Witt. This energetic shoot celebrates the uplifting and expressive Soul and Motown music from this era. Soul music has had huge political and cultural significance, and has been described as “the music that arose out of black experience in America”. It was also influential in the The Civil Rights movement and we see it’s influence across many other music genres. We wanted to create an expressive message of liberation and celebration through the seventies styling and set design in a dance hall location.
